A sustainable machining Masterclass to help manufacturing leaders facing the problem of small batch production in a rapidly changing world.
This Masterclass focuses on every company facing the problem of small batch production of diverse workpieces in a rapidly changing world. Each company has an economic, social and environmental responsibility in addition to the classic business elements of cost control, productivity and quality. In every machining company, sustainable business starts with sustainable machining.
This Master Class takes about 16 hours, including questions & answers time and will be presented in Dutch. The focus is on the energetic and environmental foot print of machining as a manufacturing process. Cutting tool range presentation or application description is not included. Questions related to specific product range issues or application conditions shall not be dealt with during the Master Class.

Patrick De Vos was born in 1959 in Belgium and graduated from university in 1981; holding a master’s degree in mechanical and Electrical Engineering (major domain Production Technology & Economics). From 1981 to 1983, he was a post graduate lecturer and researcher (the research subject was optimizing strategies for metal cutting processes and production economics) at a research centre aligned to the university.
Since 2006, he has been the Chief Technical Education Officer for Seco Tools AB. In this position he has led the creation of STEP (Seco Technical Education Programme) and has the global responsibility for technical education activities for Seco employees and customers worldwide. Since the creation of STEP more than 385,000 people worldwide have attended these programs. He has personally educated and trained more than 95,000 people in more than 67 countries worldwide during the last 35 years. He has been a guest speaker at many international conventions, conferences and institutes and universities worldwide.
He is the author of numerous technical articles on machining techniques and the publications Metal Cutting, theories in practice; Tool Deterioration, Best Practices; Metal Cutting Physics, Best Practices and Knowledge, Skills and Mindset make sustainable Machining.
